Richard L. Sherman

Richard L. Sherman, 80, of Du Bois, passed away at 6:53 A.M., Saturday, October 23, 2004 at the St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Richard was a farmer.  He was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Du Bois.  He was a member of Du Quoin American Legion.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II.
He was born July 18, 1924 at Du Bois, IL, the son of Leo and Martha (Kania) Sherman.
He married Angeline Piasecki on May 17, 1952 at Posen, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Bois, six children - Shirley Bramlet and husband Mike of Carbondale, Linda Keller and husband Walter of Springfield, Peggy Hartsfield and husband James of League City, TX, Glenn Sherman and wife Sally of Auburn, IL, Alan Sherman of Du Bois, and Annette Narayanan and husband Seetha of San Jose, CA, two brothers - Clarence Sherman and Bernard Sherman, both of Du Bois, four sisters - Delphine Malawy of Belleville, Adele Zdrowski of Du Bois, Virginia Rynski of Belleville and Ernestine Kurwicki of Marine, thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers - Raymond Sherman and Ernest Sherman and one sister - Edna Polczynski.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois with Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
Rosary was prayed at 7 P.M., Tuesday at the funeral home.
Interment was in the St. Charles Cemetery at Du Bois.
Military graveside rites were conducted by Du Quoin V.F.W. and Du Quoin American Legion.
